Did you know that cracking your teeth—especially when eating—is rare? Unfortunately, it can happen. If you chomp on the right food at the wrong angle, it’s possible to break your pearly whites. To help you avoid cracking your teeth, we are happy to provide you with a few foods you should be wary of.

Olive Pits: Typically, olives are perfectly safe. But, danger lurks if the olive is not pitted properly. The main issue comes from biting down into a hard pit when you were expecting a soft olive.

Popcorn Kernels: Eating popcorn is usually safe, until you accidentally bite into a kernel. Just like biting into an olive pit, unexpectedly biting into a hard kernel can crack your tooth.

Hard Candy: While it is true that sugars can cause problems with tooth decay, biting into some candy can fracture your smile. For example, candy with nougat or nuts can fracture your teeth. But, as dangerous as crunchy candy can be, hard candies can be even more dangerous. If you need hard candy, please don’t bite down.
