Is your child currently suffering from the effects of teething? Teething is an oral health condition in which your child is suffering from mild discomfort related to teeth erupting above the gumline. When a child is teething, they may feel discomfort and exhibit signs of fussiness and irritability. Fortunately, there are treatments available to help alleviate discomfort associated with teething.

Various symptoms can alert you to the presence of teething within a child. If a child is having any difficulties sleeping, minor irritability, a loss of appetite or excessive drooling, it could be linked to the condition. However, if a child exhibits extreme symptoms including diarrhea, rashes or a fever, professional pediatric care will need to be sought out by calling our office.

When your child is teething, you will need to bring them into our doctor for a comprehensive examination to determine which tools can be used. If your child is extremely young, you should avoid using teething tablets or over the counter pain relievers unless permission is granted by our pediatric dentist. However, teething tools that can be used include a gauze pad over their gums, a small spoon, a teething ring or even your finger.
